Each year, 1.3 million people die from hepatitis. New data from the World Health Organization indicates the death toll continues to rise.
Hepatitis is now the deadliest virus in the world after COVID-19. There are more than two million new cases of hepatitis each year. More than 300 million people are living with hepatitis. Hepatitis is the leading cause of liver cancer.
There are only six years left to achieve the global goal of eliminating hepatitis by 2030 – but we’re merely lagging backwards.
On July 28, 2024 the Government of Indonesia also commemorated the World Hepatitis Day with a series of events culminating in Palembang. In this activity we have the opportunity to do Hepatitis B and C screening on 100 key populations in Palembang.
