Health Workers Capacity Building for Hepatitis B Microelimination from mother to child in the Sikka Regency, NTT

On November 6-7 2023, Yayasan Peduli Hati Bangsa collaborated with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the Sikka Regency Health Office organized a capacity building for health workers for Hepatitis B Microelimination from mother to child in the Sikka District, NTT.

The percentage of reactive HBsAg pregnant women by provinces according to the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s, as of the end of 2020, East Nusa Tenggara had the highest percentage rate compared to other provinces, which is 4.9%. This means that almost 5 out of a hundred pregnant women have reactive HBsAg.

In Sikka regency, from January to August 2023, there were 81 pregnant women with positive HBsAg. With an average of 10 mothers per month diagnosed during antenatal visits, this means that around 120 pregnant women with positive HBsAg will be found during 2023 in the Sikka Regency, NTT. This health workers training is carried out to facilitate increasing the appropriate knowledge and skills that are really needed to prevent transmission of Hepatitis B from mother to child.

  4. dr. Defranky Theodorus, Sp.A (from Dr. TC. Hillers Maumere, Provincial General Hospital, St. Gabriel Kewapante Hospital, and Agradece Clinic)
  5. Caroline Thomas (Yayasan Peduli Hati Bangsa)

This training was officially opened by:

  1. Dr. Ratna B. Hapsari (as Chair of the Hepatitis and Gastrointestinal Infectious Diseases Working Team)
  2. Ir. Hendrikus Blasius Sali (as Acting Head of the Sikka regency Health Office)
